The winter heating season has now begun. It's important that you make every attempt to keep current on your electric bill. We understand that things do happen that put financial burdens on people. Certain government organizations can offer heating assistance or point you in the direction of a group that can help you.
The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) provides assistance for heating costs, electric costs and energy crisis situations. It administers the federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Public Benefits Energy Assistance Program. LIHEAP and its related services help more than 230,000 Wisconsin households annually.
If you need assistance paying for your heating bill this winter, help may be available through your county energy assistance program. Don't miss the chance to receive financial help on your heating costs.
If you feel you qualify for energy assistance, call the county agency where you live. Applications are being taken October 1-May 15. Additional crisis services are available all year.
For more information on the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) and how to apply , please contact your local office listed below.
